琴平神社

観光スポット 2018/10/19

四国讃岐の金刀比羅宮から分霊を奉還した神社です。江戸時代初期の鎮座以来、奥州第一の金刀比羅宮として人々の信仰を集めてきたと言われます。太平洋に突き出した岩井崎にあり、海が間近であるにもかかわらず、10.8ｍという標高によって東日本大震災の津波の被害を受けることがありませんでした。境内は現在も気仙沼市の避難場所に指定されています。
